Cynthia has been kind enough to answer some questions AND is offering an ebook giveaway to three lucky commenters!!!

Cynthia's interview:

1) Tell us about your most embarrassing moment. (Book related or not)

When I was 19, and dinning in a very exclusive restaurant at a formal event in a hotel restaurant, my false eyelash fell into my soup. My date thought there was an insect of some sort floating in the broth.

2) How would you spend your “perfect day”?

My perfect day would start out with my husband’s kisses, snuggles from my poodles, and a visit with my daughter.

3) Be honest, do people you know ever make it into your books?

Traits of people I know will make up my fictional characters. No one character is an exact replica of any of my family members or friends.

4) Aside from writing, what are your hobbies?

I enjoy cooking French and Italian food. French culture is a favorite.

5) What are your bad habits?

I tend to procrastinate. I mull over a plot for quite a while before I put pen to paper, so to speak.

6) Lightning round:

a. Paper back or ebook? Paperback.

b. Socks or bare feet? Bare feet.

c. Tea or coffee? Coffee.

d. Dogs or cats? Poodles.

e. Beach or mountains? Beach.

f. Butter or margarine? Butter.

g. Cash or credit? Cash.

h. Gum or mint? Mint.

Meet Sarah Butland

Posted by [email protected] on July 1, 2015 at 9:00 AM Comments comments ()

I want to take a moment to welcome author Sarah Butland to my site today! She's taken time to share some of her books with us and answer my questions. Sarah will gift an ebook copy of Being Grateful, Being Thankful to one lucky commenter!

INTERVIEW with Sarah Butland:

1) Tell us about your most embarrassing moment. (Book related or not)

Funny you should ask as I was just thinking about revealing this the other day in hopes of coming to terms with the embarrassment.

Non book related but may be why I secluded myself even more. It was in grade 6 and we just got back from skating at the nearby rink to the classroom where it was reading time. I raised my hand, politely asked the teacher if I could be excused to use the washroom and permission was denied. “We just got in and you didn’t need to pee before leaving the rink so I could wait,” exclaimed my teacher (whom I previously adored). So I squirmed and waited, not wanting to disobey my teacher and finally my bladder could take no more.

I let loose and filled the old fashioned orange chair with the pit for your butt with urine and so I was nicknamed “Puddles” for months!

2) How would you spend your “perfect day”?

The weather would be hot, around 28* Celius and I’d spend it at the beach with my family. Some time to play with them, swimming and building castles and some alone time to read a good mystery.

3) Be honest, do people you know ever make it into your books?

My characters are often inspired by people I know but never written about directly.

4) Aside from writing, what are your hobbies?

My other hobbies include a bit of cross stitching and reading, of course.

5) What are your bad habits?

Me, bad habits? I don’t think so…. Well, besides being cranky if the house isn’t cleaned and stomping around the house when cranky, my husband would say.

6) Lightning round:

a. Paper back or ebook? Paperback all the way! Though ebooks have their perks.

b. Socks or bare feet? Socks, except for on the beach during my perfect day.

c. Tea or coffee? Tea. I only drank coffee once and it did nothing for me.

d. Dogs or cats? Do I have to choose? I enjoy both.

e. Beach or mountains? Beach all the way.

f. Butter or margarine? Butter

g. Cash or credit? Credit with hopes of paying it back immediately

h. Gum or mint? Mint

i. Summer or winter? I love all seasons for what they offer though after this cruel winter I think I can wait a year or two to see another winter.

Meet Maria Gibbs!

Posted by [email protected] on June 17, 2015 at 6:00 AM Comments comments ()

The end of school almost killed me and I got overwhelmed so my interviews slowed down a bit. However, it's SUMMER now! Woohoo!

I want to introduce you to Maria Gibbs! She's visiting today to answer some questions, share her information with us, and do a giveaway to a random commenter (ebook sent to Kindle.com address).

1) Tell us about your most embarrassing moment. (Book related or not)

I’m sure I have more than enough of those but the one that springs to mind is the most recent. I work in a motorcycle training school as an office manager, until recently the students who came to do their CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) courses sat in my office/classroom. I was chatting with some colleagues prior to the class starting. Someone mentioned a previous student who thought the course would only take a few hours, I piped up with “You think that’s bad, I had someone who came in the other day who wanted to book in at 4pm!” Without boring you senseless with work-related information, the course generally lasts for a whole day. The course started; I was sat at my desk tapping away on my laptop. I happened to glance up and noticed one of the students. With a sinking feeling, I realised that he was the guy I had been describing a few minutes ago to my colleagues. It was the only time in my life when I wished that Morton Harket would put a hand out of the screen and pull me into the laptop (For anyone who doesn’t understand that reference- UTUBE Take on Me by A-ha)

2) How would you spend your “perfect day”?

My perfect day would be spent sunbathing on a beach in the Caribbean with a book/Kindle in my hand. A ride on a horse or a jet-ski, maybe a bit of sailing followed by a nice leisurely meal a few glasses of wine and time to write.

3) Be honest, do people you know ever make it into your books?

I don’t think I ever knowingly put anyone I know into my books, but I do sometimes discover a little bit of someone in there. I realised that one male character in my WIP novel was a mix between a guy I used to date years ago and a character out of a book/film from many years ago but it wasn’t intentional.

4) Aside from writing, what are your hobbies?

Obviously writing is up the top of the list. I love listening to music and jogging. I am now the proud owner of a Honda motorbike and enjoy riding that although I suppose at the moment it is used more for commuting. If I had the time, money, etc... it would be horse-riding, jet-skiing and sailing. I used to horse ride every week but life got in the way as it inevitably does and now all three of those pursuits are limited to being a holiday indulgence.

5) What are your bad habits?

Gosh, bad habits...do I have any? Maybe too many to list so I will limit myself to two; I am terribly untidy, I don't necessarily like a mess but there always seems to be something better to do than tidy up! The second one I will admit to is that I am one of those annoying people who interrupts you when you speak. I cringe as I am doing it but by then it is too late and the words are out.

6) Lightning round:

a. Paper back or ebook? Paperback is better but ebook more convenient

b. Socks or bare feet? Bare feet

c. Tea or coffee? Coffee

d. Dogs or cats? Dogs

e. Beach or mountains? Beach, but I do love mountains too

f. Butter or margarine? Butter

g. Cash or credit? Credit

h. Gum or mint? Mint

i. Summer or winter? Summer

Meet Stephanie John!

I'm super pumped to introduce you to Stephanie John today! Not only is Stephanie answering my questions and sharing her book with us, she's also GIVING AWAY an ebook copy of Salvation to your Kindle.com address! So be sure to comment on the post!

1)      Tell us about your most embarrassing moment. (Book related or not)  Making out with my brother’s friend and not realising he was standing behind us

2)      How would you spend your “perfect day”?  Can I give two answers?  With my writer head on, it would have to be a day spent alone with just my characters for company, and the words flowing onto the screen.  It would be rounded off with a nice glass of wine and a good steamy romance book.  With my every day head on, it would be a day at the beach or pool with my husband and children just relaxing and being mummy.  It would still end with a nice glass of wine but maybe something a little more real than reading about some steamy romance action…

3)      Be honest, do people you know ever make it into your books?  No one specific person has made it into my book as an individual.  However, there are characteristics of people I know, myself included, that my characters have inherited.

4)      Aside from writing, what are your hobbies?  Being a full-time parent to small children takes a huge amount of my time.  I enjoy simple activities like being able to watch a TV programme in peace without interruption, or read more than one page of a book before being called elsewhere.  I love going to watch live concerts, having a girls night out, shopping.  And I spend countless hours being distracted by photos of rather attractive young hotties on Pinterest and Instagram - that’s a hobby, right?

5)      What are your bad habits?  Procrastinating, being impatient, and not having enough self-belief.  And I’m a huge perfectionist which is good and bad, depending on the circumstances.

6)      Lightning round:

  1. Paper back or ebook?  Paperback
  2.

  3. Socks or bare feet?  Bare feet
  4.

  5. Tea or coffee?  Coffee
  6.

  7. Dogs or cats?  Cats
  8.

  9. Beach or mountains?  Beach
  10.

  11. Butter or margarine?  Butter

  13. Cash or credit?  Credit
  14.

  15. Gum or mint?  Mint
  16.

  17. Summer or winter?  Summer
  18.

Here's the blurb from Leather and Lace, Maggie's newest release:

Sam Coalson, ex-Navy SEAL, has returned to Grafton for the wedding of his brother. After being run out of town fifteen years ago for a crime he didn’t commit, he’s determined to claim what is rightfully his and take on anyone crazy enough to try and stop him.

Angel Devereaux is smart, sexy and definitely on Sam’s blacklist. After siding with Sam’s enemy fifteen years ago, Angel can’t help but wonder what if….what if Sam had never left? What if he could forgive her now? She had her reasons, but he won’t listen. So enough with words, sometimes action is exactly what’s called for.

Meet Rick H. Veal

Posted by [email protected] on April 29, 2015 at 6:30 AM Comments comments ()

I'd like to say a great big welcome to Rick H. Veal! Thanks so much for joining us today! Readers, Rick has graciously offered to give away your choice of one of his ebooks to three winners! So be sure to comment on this post to enter!

Let's get started with an interview.

1)      Tell us about your most embarrassing moment. (Book related or not)
I suppose that it would be about twenty years ago when I took my mom out for Mother's Day. We went to a very nice, really expensive restaurant and I treated her to anything she wanted and dessert. When the bill came and I started to pay, I realized that I had left my wallet on the dresser at home - I had no money, no credit card, nothing! That alone was embarrassing enough but to add salt to the wound I had to ask my mom to let me borrow the money to pay for her Mother's Day dinner! She dug in her purse and handed me the money playfully adding 'Happy Mother's Day!' I repaid her the next day - and made up for it by taking her out again the next week ... and I made sure I didn't leave anything at home that time!

2)      How would you spend your “perfect day”?
Let’s face it, I am in LOVE with The Big Easy – New Orleans. There’s just something about being in the Land of Voodoo and Vampires, no matter the genre you write in, that’s inspiring for a writer. I would begin my day with a stroll up Decatur Street to Café Du Monde for one of their hot steaming coffee lattes and a plate of beignets piled high with sugar. There I would sit and, if lucky listen to a street performer sing or play jazz, while watching the city come to life as I sipped slowly on my coffee.
After breakfast I would walk through Jackson Square, admiring the beauty of the park and the huge Cathedral. I would make my way back to Canal Street, catch the St. Charles line, and ride the trolley for a couple of hours up into and through the Garden District, listening to the ghosts of the past, looking for inspiration while watching the beautiful houses of the district passing by. I would return in time to take a lunch cruise down the river on the steamboat Natchez.
I would spend my afternoon walking the Quarter, and the French Market, shopping and exploring all the small alleys and courtyards. In the middle of the afternoon I would go into one of the small snack bars for a shrimp Po’ Boy and a local made beer before returning to my room for an hour to freshen up and prepare for dinner. I would have dinner at Huck Finn’s Café, perhaps having their famous ‘Tour of the Town’ coupled with one of their own specialty craft beers.
After dinner I would begin the evening by walking around Jackson Square again, this time watching the card readers, magicians, and street performers begin their daily activities, luring tourists for a song and a reading. When it got full dark I would sign up for one of the many ghost or vampire tours of the District. After the tour, I would head up to Frenchman Street to spend a couple of hours in one of the famous jazz clubs where I would enjoy the Cajun beat and dance the evening away.
I would end my day back in my room where I would eagerly await the dawn and begin it all again.

3)      Be honest, do people you know ever make it into your books?
Yes, but only once as the actual person. One of my best friends, Billie Jo, gained a cameo in Katelyn’s Chronicles. She is an RN and my ‘go-to’ for any medical questions I have when writing. I wrote her in to the scene where Katelyn is in the hospital for observation after discovering her parent’s bodies after their murder. There was one other young lady I knew that was the inspiration for Charlotte Ann’s financial agent in Dale’s Descent. Otherwise, all of my characters are born in my head.

4)      Aside from writing, what are your hobbies?
Wait … you have time for hobbies as a writer … really … we should talk! Seriously though, I love to travel, especially Charleston, Savannah and New Orleans. I have also been a reader all my life. I feel like one cannot be a successful writer unless they read … a lot. Reading is as much a part of learning the craft of writing as writing itself. I was never into sports or other activities. I like to say that you can take what I know, or care, about sports, put it in your eye and never blink. But give me a good book and I’m happy.

 5)      What are your bad habits?
None. I just celebrated the thirty-seventh anniversary of my eighteenth birthday (fifty-five for anyone who can’t or doesn’t want to do the math) so all of my bad habits are now far in the past.

6)      Lightning round:

  1. Paper back or ebook? Real book, I prefer a hardback but paperbacks will do.
  2.

  3. Socks or bare feet? Bare feet and flip flops.
  4.

  5. Tea or coffee? Yes, please.
  6.

  7. Dogs or cats? Cats
  8.

  9. Beach or mountains? Mountains
  10.

  11. Butter or margarine? Butter
  12.

  13. Cash or credit? Cash
  14.

  15. Gum or mint? Mint
  16.

  17. Summer or winter? Summer
  18.

Meet Ruby Merritt!

Posted by [email protected] on April 15, 2015 at 7:30 AM Comments comments ()

I'm so happy to have my friend Ruby Merritt stop by my blog today! She's going to answer my questions, share her books and contact info, and commenters will  be entered into a giveaway for one of her ebooks sent to a Kindle.

1)      Tell us about your most embarrassing moment. (Book related or not)

You mean the time I was criticizing a co-worker behind her back and she was standing behind me? Yeah—not embarrassing at all.

2)      How would you spend your “perfect day”?

I’d write all morning long then I’d ride my horse all afternoon and in the evening I’d have a scrumptious meal complete with wine and dessert then finish with a trip to the bookstore or the movies.

3)      Be honest, do people you know ever make it into your books?

Yes.

4)      Aside from writing, what are your hobbies?

I train for and compete in the equestrian sport of 3 day eventing, I knit and I read.

5)      What are your bad habits?

Too much diet coke, procrastination and thinking I can do it all myself—none which help the others. It’s a wonder I get anything done.

6)      Lightning round:

  1. Paper back or ebook? ebook

Meet Sabrina Rawson!

Posted by [email protected] on April 8, 2015 at 7:00 AM Comments comments ()

Sabrina Rawson is a fellow author I've been lucky enough to call a friend almost since the beginning of my author journey. I'm delighted she's stopped by today to share with us about herself and her books.

1) Tell us about your most embarrassing moment. (Book related or not)

It was my first reading and I was prepared. The audience was excited and medium in crowd, about 35-40 people. I got up to the podium to read from my book and before I spoke I felt a hot flash creeping up my neck. I began to read anyway and a minute into the reading sweat dripped off my nose onto the paper I was reading my excerpt from. I looked up and begged the audience forgiveness and proceeded to fan myself before I passed out. Everyone laughed and in a moment I continued reading. I don’t know how I made it out of there, but the hot flash didn’t let up because I was anxious by then. My cheeks were fever rosy and I was drenched in mortification and sweat. Despite everything I did a fantastic job and the applause was deafening.

2) How would you spend your “perfect day”?

Shopping, dinner and then wrap it up with a trip to a theatre production like an opera while visiting the country of Italy. I think back to the times in the turn of the 19th century when the upper class planned the day dressing up for the evening, dinning in with guests then attending the theatre late at night. Families went. Friends met up and gossiped. I would love to do that for a day. It would be my dream vacation holiday.

3) Be honest, do people you know ever make it into your books?

Yes. Pieces of me are in my books. My heroines have bits of my character woven into them and I really have a good time reading how strong they are because then I can see myself through their eyes. It’s like a mirror that holds pieces of me inside of them. I haven’t written any person that I know, personally, but I am up for the challenge!

4) Aside from writing, what are your hobbies?

Reading. I used to garden a ton, but when I went through cancer therapy my physical life slowed down. Gardening became something I did once in a big while not like the every three weeks in a row from March to October I used to do. Reading is a daily habit now. I enjoy my stories and I have to say since I have opened my life to digital eBooks I have not had to re-read anything unless I seriously wanted to.

5) What are your bad habits?

I think too much. Sometimes I have to tell myself to slow down with the “to do” list. It can keep me up at night and I tend to have post it notes in my kitchen, by my computer and a list in a notebook or in my purse all saying the same thing. It is nerve racking, but I do remember everything and tend to forget very little. On the flipside, I tend to allow myself to be neurotic if I don’t check myself.

6) Lightning round:

a. Paper back or ebook? eBook

b. Socks or bare feet? Bare feet

c. Tea or coffee? Coffee

d. Dogs or cats? Dog

e. Beach or mountains? Beach

Yes! I have borrowed a compilation of my career, my daughter’s careers, names of friends…all of these have ended up in my books!

4) Aside from writing, what are your hobbies?

Reading! I love a pretty garden, but hate yardwork!
